  • Service Technician

    Service Technician, Ellensburg WA, USA

    As a Service Technician, reporting to the Operations Manager, US, you will work as part of our local team to support Hunterwood customers throughout the Washington region with their machine maintenance programs. Experience with troubleshooting, machine maintenance and PLC’s will be critical in the success of the role.

    This position is expected to be available Monday to Friday 7:00 – 4:00pm and as needed for after hour’s calls (cell phone/laptop provided).

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Technical field work
    • Perform maintenance on Hunterwood machines and packaging equipment
    • Implement start-up procedures for systems
    • Testing and commissioning of equipment on-site
    • Extract or interpret electrical and schematic drawings from third parties and integrate systems into our production lines
    • Install & upgrade work as required
    • Phone/online troubleshooting on customer’s equipment
    • Warranty support for customer’s equipment
    • Customer training for Operators and Maintenance
    • Shop service work as required
    • Proper documentation of customer calls and feedback on issue resolution
    • Monitor the running time, down time, and errors on the Hunterwood machines
    • Optimizing machine productivity

    Qualifications:

    • A background in maintenance, service, mechanics, millwright, or engineering an asset.
    • Knowledge of PLC’s, Ladder Logistics and control systems.
    • Good mechanical aptitude.
    • Able to read hydraulic/electrical schematics and mechanical drawings an asset.
    • Moderate understanding of electrical design.
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Machine Shop Supervisor

    Machine Shop Supervisor, Cochrane, Alberta

    The Machine Shop Supervisor's responsibility is to ensure the machine shop employees work in a safe manner to produce quality parts that meet or exceed the customers requirement. The incumbent is ultimately responsible to ensure that the products machined meet specifications and are produced effectively, efficiently and on time. You are the main technical machining representative for our company, act as liaison with customers, applicable authorities, Estimator/Planners and Management Team on all technical machining issues.

    Position Requriements:

    • Track all machine shop jobs to ensure we are on budget and prepare mitigation plans if a project is tracking over budget
    • Scheduling jobs through machine shop to maintain on-time delivery to customer. Co-ordinate with fabrication shop to ensure parts are available when required for machine openings
    • Monitor employees and perform progressive discipline actions when necessary
    • Manage machine shop consumables and shop supplies to minimize cost while maintaining product quality
    • Investigate with Operations Manager development of new processes or organizational techniques to improve productivity and quality
    • Recommend new equipment or processes to maximize labour productivity
    • Recruit and hire machine shop employees
    • Provide accurate pricing for machine shop estimates, when required
    • Actively participate in technology and production meetings
    • Create and conduct machine shop employee annual performance evaluations with assistance from the Management Team and HR
    • Actively promote new management initiatives and directions with shop employees
    • Coordinate maintenance of equipment
    • Manage tooling requirements
    • Provide accurate time sheets to Pay roll Administrator, in a timely fashion, ensuring appropriate routings are complete
    • Be prepared to report to the Management Team at any time on the current status of the project under your control and communicate critical information to coworkers
    • Work closely with Quality department to ensure conformance of parts
    • Ensure duties are performed in a safe manner with focus on accident prevention
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with all Health & Safety regulations

    Automation & Controls Programmer / Commissioning Technician, Cochrane, Alberta

    As an Automation & Controls Programmer/Commissioning Technician you will be reporting to the Electrical Controls Systems & Automation Team Lead.

    Position Requriements:

    • Develop understanding of customer/market requirements and expectations, and contribute as needed to ensure these are accurately reflected in control narrative, scoping and design intent documentation
    • Design, implement, & maintain efficient and robust equipment automation programs
    • Create and implement clear and logical control screens for operator interfaces
    • Installation and commissioning of presses in various regions of the world. Ability to travel is a requirement.
    • Create and maintain clear documentation of work
    • Develop understanding of safety risks and hazards associated with commissioning and operation of Hunterwood equipment, and provide reasonable and effective mitigation and protection measures through design and programming choices
    • Maintain accurate specifications and schematics for all aspects of the electrical and control systems.
    • Coordinate with mechanical and hydraulic design disciplines for effective integration of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aspects of systems
    • Develop understanding of relevant regulations, codes, and standards; and strive for compliance
    • Manage time and projects effectively, in line with priorities and strategic objectives communicated by management

    Qualifications:

    • PLC Programming Certificate or Equivalent
    • 2 to 5 years’ experience working on machine design or controls in an industrial environment

    • Certified training with hydraulic, and electromechanical valve actuators will be highly regarded

  • Journeyman Welder

     

    Journeyman Welder, Cochrane Alberta

    We are looking for a Welder to build and service our forage exporting equipment. This position would be based at our Cochrane, Alberta location and may require some international travel a few times a year.

     

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Reading and Interpreting Drawings
    • Fitting and Tacking
    • Welding to a predetermined standard
    • Maintaining equipment and a clean work area
    • Operating forklifts and other necessary equipment
    • Practice safe work methods- always

  • Shop Labourer

    Shop Labourer, Cochrane, Alberta

    As a Shop Labourer, you will perform and complete a variety of tasks for all the shop departments. This includes but is not limited to the welding, paint and assembly departments. In this role you will also be responsible for helping the day-to-day shop operations operate efficiently and smoothly. Some tasks that are included in regular duties are painting, cut and drill and various other tasks.

    Position Requriements:

    • Clean and prepare material for the painting process
    • Apply primer and paint when required
    • Unload and load the paint booth, set up material in a safe, efficient manner
    • Maintain, clean, and repair equipment related to the painting process, and for other departments
    • Maintain an organized workspace
    • Track and store inventory of consumables and supplies within the paint department
    • Assist various departments with assigned tasks
    • Comply with all safety training, legislation, and regulation
