Hunterwood Technologies is a world leader in the design, fabrication, and manufacture of forage compactors. Hunterwood has been innovating forage compactors for more than 20 years and has proven experience in mechanical, electrical, automation, and hydraulic design and fabrication. AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

 

Assembly Technician, Cochrane, Alberta

As an Assembly Technician at Hunterwood you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of Hunterwood projects – component assembly, hydraulic systems and electrical systems.

This is a position in which international travel is required. Employee must maintain a valid passport and ability to travel to remain eligible for this position. Up to 50% travel time could be expected during busy intervals.

Position Requriements:

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices, such as cranes, jacks, and forklifts, to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain hydraulic systems and programmable logic controls
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during maintenance or set-up of machinery
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation by using hand and power tools and welding equipment
  • Perform QC of work to ensure Hunterwood standards are being kept
  • Build according to parameters described in drawing packages
  • Comply with all stated safety obligations as outline in AB OHS ACT, Regulations, and Safety Code
  • Wear appropriate PPE at all times when required to do so and work in a safe manner that prevents opportunity for accidents
  • Participate in safety meetings and briefings and contribute to a positive safe and healthy work environment by taking a proactive role in safety

Skills Required:

  • Strong mechanical, millwright, and manufacturing background, as well as a knowledge of hydraulics an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for 4-6 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to maintain a valid passport

Grade 12 Diploma

  • Mechanical Designer (6-month Contract)

    Mechanical Designer (6-month Contract), Cochrane, Alberta

    We are currently looking for a Mechanical Designer for a 6 month contract to support the engineering design team. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this role will be responsible for contributing to the design and drafting of the structural and mechanical designs of Hunterwood presses, parts, and accessories.

    Position Requriements:

    • Develop detailed designs of forage press subassemblies and/or accessories, based on understanding and review of preliminary design concepts, performance specifications, and constraints
    • Coordinate with other designers to ensure appropriate interfacing with other subassemblies
    • Create Solidworks models and complete drawing packages to Hunterwood drawing standards
    • Populate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Solidworks PDM for migration to ERP software
    • Clearly document assumptions, calculations, decisions, etc
    • Manage time and projects effectively, in line with priorities and strategic objectives communicated by management
    • Assist other designers
    • Maintain professional work standards, including adherence to APEGA practice standards
    •  

    Skills Required:

    • Proficient in the use of Solidworks, preferably experienced in Solidworks PDM
    • Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical design
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Professional registration with APEGA an asset
    • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Basic to intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office Suite

    Education:

    Degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent

  • Project Manager

    Project Manager, Cochrane, Alberta

    Reporting to the Vice-President, Operations the Project Manager will play a crucial role in the business by ensuring that production projects are completed on time. In this role you will lead projects from beginning to end by defining goals, scope, budget, timelines and deliverables; and identify potential issues/risks and devise contingency plans. The successful candidate will also be comfortable with coordinating project logistics per the implementation plan, including equipment mobilization, labor mobilization, crew accommodation, tools and consumables, health and safety supplies and training needs.

    Position Requriements:

    • Build Production Schedules to forecast and track project deliverables
    • Build Installation Schedules to forecast and track project installation at client’s site
    • Develop Project Schedules to help in project budgeting, from a cost and resource standpoint, and to use in determining project viability
    • Develop and maintain a project organization structure to coordinate and implement project activities
    • Maintain positive working relationships across departments to ensure all project deliverables are met
    • Ensure project deliverable adheres with client contracts
    • Maintain project documentation for reporting and analytical purposes
    • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with clients, ensuring communication of all pertinent documentation
    • Work with client’s project lead to ensure client project requirements are all met and maintain professional relationships throughout project duration

    • Ability to work independently with minimal managerial supervision

  • Shop Labourer

    Shop Labourer, Cochrane, Alberta

    As a Shop Labourer, you will perform and complete a variety of tasks for all the shop departments. This includes but is not limited to the welding, paint and assembly departments. In this role you will also be responsible for helping the day-to-day shop operations operate efficiently and smoothly. Some tasks that are included in regular duties are painting, cut and drill and various other tasks.

    Position Requriements:

    • Clean and prepare material for the painting process
    • Apply primer and paint when required
    • Unload and load the paint booth, set up material in a safe, efficient manner
    • Maintain, clean, and repair equipment related to the painting process, and for other departments
    • Maintain an organized workspace
    • Track and store inventory of consumables and supplies within the paint department
    • Assist various departments with assigned tasks
    • Comply with all safety training, legislation, and regulation
