  • Electrical Control System & Automation Team Lead

    Electrical Control System & Automation Team Lead, Cochrane, Alberta

    The Team Lead of the electrical design and automation group is responsible for developing, reviewing, and executing the electrical design concepts and automation software for all equipment manufactured or designed by Hunterwood. Develops, integrates, implements and optimizes automation controls for mechanical systems. Produces and keeps current documentation for control systems. Field implementation, Field diagnostics and repair as required. Supervises, reviews, and directs work of EITs and junior electrical staff.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    The leader of the product development team responsible for development of the control system of Hunterwood projects. Develop electrical schematics, termination diagrams and accompanying documentation. Update and check HMI software, configure MCC, PLC, Factory Network devices and HMI’s, installations and commissioning.

    • General:

      • Understand customer/market requirements and expectations, and contribute as needed to ensure these are accurately reflected in scoping and design intent documentation
      • Determine required specifications of electrical components to cost-effectively fulfill functions required by design intent
      • Create and maintain accurate specifications and schematics for all aspects of the electrical and control systems
      • Design, implement, & maintain efficient and robust equipment automation programs
      • Create and implement clear and logical control screens for operator interfaces
      • Understand safety risks and hazards associated with commissioning and operation of Hunterwood equipment, and provide reasonable and effective mitigation and protection measures through design and programming choices, hazard/risk assessments, incident investigations, and resolution of safety concerns
      • Coordinate with mechanical and hydraulic design disciplines for effective integration of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aspects of systems
      • Understand and comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards
      • Create and maintain clear documentation of work
      • Develop standard written protocols for control system designs, revision control
      • Facilitate and manage feedback from electrical assembly staff for continuous improvement
      • Electrical assembly, installation, and testing when necessary
      • Foster and maintain professional work standards, including adherence to APEGA practice standards

      Scheduling/Planning

      • Manage team’s time and projects effectively, in line with priorities and strategic objectives communicated by management
      • Provide routine status and schedule updates

  • Journeyman Welder

     

    Journeyman Welder, Cochrane Alberta

    We are looking for a Welder to build and service our forage exporting equipment. This position would be based at our Cochrane, Alberta location and may require some international travel a few times a year.

     

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Reading and Interpreting Drawings
    • Fitting and Tacking
    • Welding to a predetermined standard
    • Maintaining equipment and a clean work area
    • Operating forklifts and other necessary equipment

    Qualifications

  • Machine Shop Supervisor

    Machine Shop Supervisor, Cochrane, Alberta

    The Machine Shop Supervisor's responsibility is to ensure the machine shop employees work in a safe manner to produce quality parts that meet or exceed the customers requirement. The incumbent is ultimately responsible to ensure that the products machined meet specifications and are produced effectively, efficiently and on time. You are the main technical machining representative for our company, act as liaison with customers, applicable authorities, Estimator/Planners and Management Team on all technical machining issues.

    Position Requriements:

    • Track all machine shop jobs to ensure we are on budget and prepare mitigation plans if a project is tracking over budget
    • Scheduling jobs through machine shop to maintain on-time delivery to customer. Co-ordinate with fabrication shop to ensure parts are available when required for machine openings
    • Monitor employees and perform progressive discipline actions when necessary
    • Manage machine shop consumables and shop supplies to minimize cost while maintaining product quality
    • Investigate with Operations Manager development of new processes or organizational techniques to improve productivity and quality
    • Recommend new equipment or processes to maximize labour productivity
    • Recruit and hire machine shop employees
    • Provide accurate pricing for machine shop estimates, when required
    • Actively participate in technology and production meetings
    • Create and conduct machine shop employee annual performance evaluations with assistance from the Management Team and HR
    • Actively promote new management initiatives and directions with shop employees
    • Coordinate maintenance of equipment
    • Manage tooling requirements
    • Provide accurate time sheets to Pay roll Administrator, in a timely fashion, ensuring appropriate routings are complete
    • Be prepared to report to the Management Team at any time on the current status of the project under your control and communicate critical information to coworkers
    • Work closely with Quality department to ensure conformance of parts
    • Ensure duties are performed in a safe manner with focus on accident prevention
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with all Health & Safety regulations
    • Perform any additional duties as required but not limited to the job description

  • Quality Assurance Technician

    Quality Assurance Technician, Cochrane Alberta

    We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join the Hunterwood Operations Team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Technician’s primary responsibility is to identify, analyze and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure they meet Hunterwood’s quality standards. This role will also develop procedures and documentation to support the quality program and ensure corrective action is implemented effectively to improve company performance.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Create quality measurements to track improvement in products
    • Execute quality improvement testing and activities
    • Develop quality assurance standards and company processes
    • Adhere to industry quality and safety standards
    • Ensure products meet customer expectations and demand

    • Highly self-motivated and organized
    • Computer literate, capable of working with MS office

  • US Service Technician

    Service Technician, Ellensburg WA, USA

    As a Service Technician, reporting to the Operations Manager, US, you will work as part of our local team to support Hunterwood customers throughout the Washington region with their machine maintenance programs. Experience with troubleshooting, machine maintenance and PLC’s will be critical in the success of the role.

    This position is expected to be available Monday to Friday 7:00 – 4:00pm and as needed for after hour’s calls (cell phone/laptop provided).

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Technical field work
    • Perform maintenance on Hunterwood machines and packaging equipment
    • Implement start-up procedures for systems
    • Testing and commissioning of equipment on-site
    • Extract or interpret electrical and schematic drawings from third parties and integrate systems into our production lines
    • Install & upgrade work as required
    • Phone/online troubleshooting on customer’s equipment
    • Warranty support for customer’s equipment
    • Customer training for Operators and Maintenance
    • Shop service work as required
    • Proper documentation of customer calls and feedback on issue resolution
    • Monitor the running time, down time, and errors on the Hunterwood machines
    • Optimizing machine productivity

    Qualifications:

    • A background in maintenance, service, mechanics, millwright, or engineering an asset.
    • Knowledge of PLC’s, Ladder Logistics and control systems.
    • Good mechanical aptitude.
    • Able to read hydraulic/electrical schematics and mechanical drawings an asset.
    • Moderate understanding of electrical design.
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • US Sales Representative

    Sales Representative, Mid-West/Western USA

     We are currently looking for a Sales Representative to join the Hunterwood Business Development team. Reporting to the VP of Business Development, the Sales Representative will play a key role in developing our US customer base in the forage processing, biomass, and feedlot industries. The successful candidate will have experience with building relationships with agriculture businesses, delivering exceptional customer experiences and a track record of achieving sales goals. This is an exciting role and will play a huge role in the continued growth of the Hunterwood business.   This position will be remote based with the ideal candidate located in the Midwestern to Western United States.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Develop and promote Hunterwood Technologies products and services        
    • Identify and acquire new customers from an assigned territory, and/or a set of names and prospects        
    • Lead all aspects of sales process, including: proposals, quotes, and cost-estimating        
    • Consult with customer agriculture operations to reduce costs and increase efficiencies by optimizing latest technology        
    • Execute solution-selling techniques through equipment product line and service offerings to bundle overall value proposition       
    • Have significant insight and understanding of the market in trade area including awareness of competitive products   
    • Highly motivated and target driven, and a proven track record in sales, with excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills

    Qualifications:   

    • Five (5) plus years previous sales experience with a proven track record       
    • Demonstrated ability to grow sales in outside sales capacity
